Lactobacillus acidophilus is a micro-organism, normally present in the bowels, which helps maintain a desirable balance of intestinal flora.

Harmful classes of bacteria, such as Clostridia and Escherichia, which are normally kept in check by others such as Lactobacillus acidophilus, produce toxic compounds such as ammonia, nitrosamines and bile acid derivatives.

Beneficial bacteria have many other desirable effects, including the production of B-vitamins, stimulation of the the immune system, metabolization of cholesterol that blocks its absorption, and protection of the colon from the chemically abrasive and potentially carcinogenic effects of bile acids.

Primadophilus (DDS-1) is a patented strain of acidophilin-producing L. acidophilus which has been extensively researched by Dr. Khem Shahani at the University of Nebraska.

This pure, potent strain has been cultured, isolated, grown, harvested and processed according to carefully controlled proprietary protocol.
