Given our lifelong exposure to sunlight and other stressors, our eyes suffer gradual, cumulative damage from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. Especially hard hit is the eye’s lens, which acts as a “magnifying glass” for the retina. Also damaged by free radicals are ocular enzymes and lipids needed to maintain proper cellular metabolism. As well, our eyes are increasingly deprived of essential nutrients, because aging diminishes the blood flow that supplies them.
While nutritional supplements can help, they are often not enough to ensure proper visual function. Fortunately, there is another way to help reduce eye irritation and provide relief from eye dryness.
Eye D’Clare II is a sterile eye-drop formulation offering two proven lubricants (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and glycerin) that are FDA-approved for ophthalmic use.
Eye D’Clare II also contains 1% N-acetylcarnosine, a naturally occurring antioxidant and antiglycating agent that helps protect the active ingredients from glycation. And it contains ophthalmic lubricating agents to combat “dry eye” and other forms of eye irritation.
For general preventive use, the recommended amount is 1–2 drops daily. Those with eye problems may want to use 2 drops twice daily. Each package of Eye D’Clare II contains resealable vials containing a total of about 200 drops, which allows for only a small amount of product to be exposed to oxygen at a time. Unopened vials can be stored in the refrigerator to extend shelf life.
So whatever you can do to keep your eyes clear and healthy for the rest of your life, start by saying, “I declare (declare comes from the Latin for ‘to make clear’) that I will be good to my eyes.”
