Default Trusting Doctors

I just got done with a crazy two weeks. I saw five different doctors in two weeks and each said that there was something different wrong with me. I used to put all my trust in doctors to know what is best for me and follow there directions. But in two weeks, five doctors (all in the same field) said they knew what was wrong with me and started me on meds. Each had a different theory and different meds. Finally I took matters in my own hands and did some research on my own. I now have one doctor who is willing to work with me, but still...five doctors, five different theories and five different treatments. How much should we trust doctors?!

hmm yeah i would be "iffy" about it too.. but really the truth is .. doctors are just like us.. sometimes they dont have all the answers and they go off by what they have seen qand known from school or around the hopsital.. there best shot sometimes is to go with something and then try a few tings different things out to find the best results.
anyways i hope your doing okay.

i compleatly know where your coming from i became really sick, so i over about a week and a half of not being able to eat or swallow i saw 4 drs. each said it looked like i had strep throat gave me meds for it, nothing worked.. well i ended up in the hospital because my throat swelled so much i couldnt breath..i ended up haveing mono. NOT one of those 4 drs ordered a blood test, which if one had they would have seen that i had a severe case n needed medial attention instantly.. not to mention i was so dehydrated it took 4 saline bags to just get my color back! i dont trust doctors i do my own research.

wow thats rediculous...i would be questioning the credibility too. Its good that you got one doctor who is willing to work with you. The same thing happens to my mom because she's the time to want more than one assurance of her problem. She went to two doctors and they told her completely different things. So now she goes to a specialitist who knows her personally....its hard and I understand how doctors loose trust...

wow that sounds like a horrible experience. i would feel the exact same way you do. good job i finding it on your own though! sometimes we just put too much trust in a doctor.. when they say 'go' we do what they say.. like someone said though.. they are human and they do make mistakes.. it's a good thing you went to different doctors too! who knows what would have happened if you didn't do your research! hope all is going well with you now though!

Wow what a story. It really does make you think about getting another doctor just to see if they would agree. I'd want a team, like you see on House, of doctors that can argue about what they think it is until they can find the right answer. You know what they say, more heads are better than one. Good luck. Hope you are well.

Thats crazy. But Its totally understanable where you're coming from because I've heard the same thing all the time. Thats why If you think you have a certain problem you go to someone who specializes in it. Instead of going to a general doctor that might not be such a great experience because they're just brushing the top off of your problem...you need someone who can go into more depth...hense a specialist.

Hmm....personally, I think that is crazy....the 5 doctors of the same field all coming to different conclusions...personally, I think that is a little sketchy and I would worry about the quality of the doctors you would go to...but otherwise...I'd always go with the family doctor as a second opinion. ^^;

I know it seems like if doctors are just diagnosing you based on symptoms that can easily misdiagnosed instead of taking proper procautions and having you go through testing and stuff like that. Experts do say that you should get different doctors opinions instead of just one. Especially if its something serious. You never know what may actually be going on with you....
