Spanking was definately a way to go. I knew my place back in the day. Nowadays, parents don't really spank their children, and I can imagine someone suing the parents for physical abuse just for spanking them, which is kinda sad if I can think such a thought.

In any case, I think the farthest one should go is the belt, and that's it.

growing up my parents use to spank me.. i mean yeah after a certain age it did stop and it wasnt anything too brutal but it taught me not to do it again becasue when kids are younger they like to test the boundaries around them. so they need to know the consequences,

I was a trouble maker when I was young...ontop of that I was a tomboy. I got in trouble alot with my brothers and stuff like that...Most of them were for fighting (elementry sandbox fighting). I got punished alot...usually by being I run from fights...I learned my lesson young. That was the only way that I was able to learn right from mom would try time out but I would find something in that corner thats interesting. Grounding never worked for me either so they started taking stuff away...those were the time I wished I still got spanked lol...

i think its okay to an extent. i mena yeah your child does need to know whats wrong and whats right but at the same time dont take it over board. so yeah sometimes you might be stressing out or fustrated but just remember to clam down and deal with it in a reasonable matter

everyone has there own way of parenting. i will never understand the child abuse thing.. how can you harm your own child! like really thats terrible but i think punishment is okay as long as its not leaving the child in physcial pain. and without scars or burises. other then that i thin a little tap here and there is alright but like i said theres a very fine line.

i really find the whole hitting your child to be a very difficult thing. because some parents are un awear of their own strength. so i all jsut comes down to each case individually, some parents spank their children too hard and others ABUSE theirs so it comes down to that fine line inbetween abuse and punishment. so once your leaving hand prints and marks that goes into the be careful on punishment for your children.

I agree. I honestly don't like the fact that a lot of kids are really acting up and are not punished like before. It's not like we were abused when we were little, we simply got a whack on the bottom, we were never scarred or damaged because of it, we were simply disciplined. I'd say we need to bring some of that back.
