The body's cells create a potent natural antioxidant enzyme, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), to attack the free radical and turn it into hydrogen peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is dangerous also, so a second antioxidant enzyme, Catalase (CAT), steps in to break it down into harmless water and oxygen.
