Candida symptoms are vast and can even incapacitate the individual.
First and foremost you want to refrain from taking antibiotics unless it is absolutely necessary. Try to find other healthy alternatives to infections etc., but of course there may be times when it can’t be avoided. If you must take an antibiotic for some reason, you should always be sure to take an acidophilus supplement during the course of the treatment. This will help keep healthy bacteria present in your body.
Candida is nearly an epidemic in our society and is responsible for many of the chronic illness categories we see so frequently.
Most people are unaware that it even exists, because most main stream doctors are uneducated about its impact on our health.
Today, modern living styles and modern medical practices often compromise your immune system: excessive use of antibiotics or steroids, oral contraceptives, overly-acidic pH levels from fast foods, stress, hormone imbalances, exposure to environmental toxins (often mercury) and chronic illness.
Taking acidophilus on a daily basis is one of the best defenses against Candida and it promotes a healthy colon. Women may associate the term "Candida" with vaginal yeast infections (also called vaginal Thrush) complete with vaginal itching, odor and sometimes discharge. But males have their own candida symptoms.
The second most important factor in reducing candida symptoms is to follow a candida diet. A diet high in sugar is a haven for Candida. Eliminating sugars and refined foods is essential if you have Candida overgrowth. Initially even fruits and high carbohydrate foods may need to be eliminated and then reintroduced to the diet later as you get better. Meat, eggs, vegetables and yogurt are what is best to stick with and small amounts of whole, healthy carbohydrates such as brown rice or potatoes. Microscopy and culture of skin swabs and scrapings aid in the diagnosis of candidal infections. However, candida can live on a mucosal surface quite harmlessly. It may also secondarily infect an underlying skin disorder such as psoriasis. If you have a candida infection, consult your doctor or dermatologist for an examination and advice. The most common Candida (C) species to result in candidiasis is C. albicans. Other species are:
